The Christian agenda — so easy to say and so hard to do — is “to come to want what God wants” (Iain Matthew). It doesn’t happen over night, but if we persist, we can gradually grow into it. We begin by at least wanting to want what God wants, and we trust Him to turn our desire into reality.

Newsflash! Sin doesn’t change God; it changes you. You don’t have the power to change God! Sin is like wandering into a cave that looked inviting but turns out dark and cold and empty. The sun is still shining, bright and warm, but you can’t feel it. Confession is coming out of the cave and finding that God is still there, still loving you, still wanting to heal all your hurts. God never changes. Trust Him!
